1st International Rory Gallagher Tribute in Budapest - Bands

GMB

Peter 'Cserga' Varga Peter "Cserga" Varga has been playing blues-rock since 1986 with his friends. He's a big Rory fan from his early age so he formed a new band with the old members in 2006 and now they are playing regularly mainly West of Hungary where they live. The name of the band when they play Rory programme: Grateful Memorial Band (GMB). GMB's repertoire is growing time by time from Taste tracks to Fresh Evidence. Sound speciality: keyboards and harp and in the recent times - mandolin. Sometimes, as often is possible before the gigs Cserga shows a slide show with Rory's biography as a mission to introduce the great Irish guitar hero to the new fans. GMB had success as the opening performers of 10th Rory Gallagher Tribute in Wijk aan Zee, Holland in 2008.

Members: Peter "Cserga" Varga - guitar, vocal, Tibor "Tenor" Farkas - bass, Tamas Simon - drums, Gergo Kendik - keyboards. Their regular guest Tibor Horvath (Blues Jam Band) who plays excellently acoustic and electric guitars, harp and mandolin.

DAVE McHUGH & FRANK VAN PARDO

Dave McHugh Blues Guitarist Dave McHugh has spent the past 15 years keeping the music of the great Rory Gallagher alive and well. In 2008 alone Dave headlined the 6th annual Rory Gallagher review in Wiesbaden, Germany, the Wijk aan Zee festival in The Netherlands, and the 'Rock on the Ferry' festival in Glasgow. As well as tours on the continent, Dave and his band (Alan Devitt on Drums and Peter Butler on Bass) have toured throughout Ireland extensively, playing in bars and clubs. The band have also headlined the International Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon, the Cork Rocks for Rory Festival in Cork City, and the Cashelised Festival in Cashel, Co. Tipperary. The band is tight and fluid, and play a full 3 hour set of blues driven Rory Gallagher music from early Taste classics such as 'Sugar Mama' and 'What's goin' on' to tunes like 'Tatoo'd Lady' and 'Walk on Hot Coals' and onto such acoustic numbers as 'Walkin Blues' and 'Out on the Western Plain'. And there is a good chance that 'Bullfrog Blues' will finish off a rockin' night! (source from Dave McHugh Band myspace)

Frank van Pardo is the singer of the Dutch Ruben Hoeke Band. Playing on harp with Dave - it's a magic.

S-MODELL

Gyorgy Pribil S-Modell formed around 1986. After some years break they work again as the most exiting blues-R&R band. Sound is dynamic or emotional sometimes psychedelic. Playing thousands club gigs S-Modell's gigs always are different. Their repertoire consists of traditional blues tracks, own songs with special lyrics for Hungarian audience and many Rolling Stones covers. Altough S-Modell don't play any Rory's track on direct way the genious lefthanded rasta guitarist - Gyorgy Pribil - always shuffles some Rory's sound into the improvisations playing on his 69 Strat or especially on his old Telecaster with slide ring. Gyorgy Pribil

The other members of the band also have strong induvidiality - young keyboard player - who plays just like Devil's musician, a suggestive singer who almost ready to die on the stage - another good guitarist who's playing in a Stones cover band. S-Modell often invites guests, so great jam expected and hopefully they keep their promises to learn some Rory tracks for the 1st International Rory Gallagher Tribute in Budapest! Which ones? Surprise! DON'T MISS IT!

Members of S-Modell:

Gyorgy Pribil – guitar, vocal, Zsolt Koszegi – vocal, Gabor Gilian – drums, Tamas Madacsy – bass, Zsolt "Liszt" Nagy – keyboards, Arpad Jokay – guitar, vocal
